We use your data to:
- Run the petition and verify signatures
- Send you updates about this campaign
- Contact you about future work of Courage International (if you agree)
We will never sell your data.
Your data is stored securely in the EU and will be deleted after 3 years if you don’t interact with us.

Courage International (hereinafter “we”), an international non-profit association (AISBL) registered in Brussels under the enterprise number 1036.514.284, whose registered office is located at Avenue Henri Jaspar 128, 1060 Saint-Gilles, Belgium, is committed to respecting applicable regulations on the protection of personal data, in particular the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU Regulation 2016/679) (“GDPR”) (hereinafter the “Applicable Regulation”).
In the context of the online petition, online form or online survey (hereinafter the “Forms”) that you (“you”) are about to sign and complete, you transmit personal data to us, which we will process.
The purpose of this information notice is to inform you of how your personal data is processed and of your rights.

1. Why do we collect your personal data?
Your personal data is collected for the following purposes:
- To manage and administer your participation in the petition (including verifying the authenticity of signatures and preventing duplicate entries);
- To publish your support for the petition (see Section 4 below);
- To communicate with you about the petition (updates, outcomes, actions, and related information);
- Subject to your consent and preferences, to send you newsletters and communications about the activities, campaigns, and mission of Courage International.
2. What personal data do we collect?
When you sign the petition, we may collect the following data (some fields are mandatory, others optional as indicated on the form):
- First and last name
- Email address
- Telephone number (optional)
- Postal address and/or postal code
If you do not provide the mandatory data, we will not be able to register your participation in the petition.
3. On what legal basis do we process your data?
We process your personal data on the following legal bases:
- Legitimate interest: to manage the petition, ensure its integrity, and prevent fraudulent or duplicate submissions;
- Consent: for sending you newsletters and other communications about our work. You may withdraw your consent at any time.
4. Who can access your personal data?
Public visibility of signatures
By signing the petition, you acknowledge and agree that:
- Your name and approximate location (e.g., city or postal code) may be made publicly available as part of the petition results;
- No other personal data (such as your email address, phone number, or full address) will be made public or shared publicly.
Internal access
Your personal data is accessible only to authorized members of our team who require access for the purposes described above and who are bound by confidentiality obligations.
Service providers
Your data may be processed by trusted service providers strictly where necessary, including:
- Dolphins SAS, which provides the Qomon platform used to create and host the petition.
These providers are contractually bound to ensure the security and confidentiality of your data and to comply with GDPR requirements.
Legal obligations
We may disclose your personal data where required by law or in response to valid requests from public authorities.
5. Where is your personal data stored?
Your personal data is stored on secure servers located within the European Union.
We do not transfer your personal data outside the European Economic Area (EEA). If this were to change, appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) would be implemented in accordance with the GDPR.
6. How long do we retain your personal data?
Your personal data is retained only for as long as necessary for the purposes described above:
- Petition data: retained for the duration of the campaign and for a reasonable period thereafter for reporting and accountability purposes;
- Communication data (email and contact details): retained for as long as you remain engaged with our communications and activities.
In all cases, your personal data will be automatically deleted after a maximum period of three (3) years from your last interaction with us (such as clicking on our communications, responding, or participating in our activities).
Certain data may be retained for a longer period where necessary to comply with legal obligations.
7. Your rights
In accordance with the GDPR, you have the following rights:
- Right of access: to obtain confirmation and access to your personal data;
- Right of rectification: to correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
- Right of erasure: to request deletion of your data where applicable;
- Right to restriction: to limit processing under certain conditions;
- Right to data portability: to receive your data in a structured format;
- Right to withdraw consent: at any time for communications;
